On June 18th, the feast of Corpus Christi, the Tri Parish Community of Walla Walla, “Brought Jesus to the Streets.”
It was a wonderful Eucharistic procession led by pastor of the Walla Walla parishes, Father Matthew Nicks. Father David Gaines, Father Tyler Smedley and Deacon Mac Robles were also present.
A cross bearer led the way, followed by the Knights of Columbus and 9 altar servers; 1 carrying incense, 4 carrying candles and 4 holding the legs of the canopy which sheltered the priests and the Blessed Sacrament.
The Little Flowers girls club, all dressed in white were next, followed by a statue of our Lady of Guadalupe. There were 200 parishioners present for the procession. It began in the Church and then they proceeded through the streets of downtown Walla Walla. Father David Gaines put together a fabulous bilingual program with prayers and songs. The Procession ended back at St Patrick Church, the same place where it began, for Benediction.
There were many onlookers along the route, and all were respectful. The city gave permission for the procession in advance. It was a blessing for the city of Walla Walla and everyone present.
